Small things that add up
None of these take more than a minute. Together they're the difference between a park and a good park.

- Bring a bag, and use it. There is a bin but no dispenser. Two bags in a pocket covers a forgetful day.
- Clip the leash on before you step off the footpath. The park has no gate or fence, so a loose dog is one distraction away from the road. Fairywrens and Silvereyes forage at ankle height too; a loose dog empties the shrubs for an hour.
- Join the garden. Wairoa Community Garden runs working bees and welcomes new hands. See council's page for how to get in touch.
- Report problems to council, not to us. Rangers on (02) 9083 8000, or the report page for who handles what.
- Water in a heatwave. On very hot days the garden beds appreciate an evening water. Ask in the garden group before you do, so nobody double-waters.
